PROGRAMME PIECE | Farsley Celtic

PROGRAMME PIECE | Farsley Celtic

Tuesday evening wasn’t quite the return to Victory Park we had hoped for but in the face of it we came up against a very good Chester side. However, 3 or 4 games in hand of the teams above – We're in a very good position at the important time of the season.

By now you may have seen the very sad news from the Sampson household. The Trust will be supporting the event organised by the Club in a variety of different ways. If you can support, please do. In the meantime, we send our best wishes to Sampo and his wife, Hannah.

I wanted to use the remainder of this article to address two particular topics that have come up whilst talking to supporters around Victory Park. Away travel and volunteers – Coincidently, they go hand in hand.

At the request from our members we heavily invested some time to research the possibility of organising official away travel. We obtained quotes, calculated costs for supporters and looked at a potential list of volunteers to assist. Ultimately the stumbling block was the latter. The players would be thrilled to see a coach full of supporters behind the goals for our away games and so would the Trust. Unfortunately our small band of volunteers aren’t quite big enough to administrate such a project to every away game – Which is something we believe it should be, every one, not certain ones.

This leads me nicely on to the next topic – Volunteers. At present our bank of volunteers, not including board members, stands at 4. Do you think you have a certain skillset that could help us achieve our goals? We are always on the lookout for volunteers to help either around match days or behind the scenes at the Trust – If you think you could sell a 50/50 ticket or two, organise events, have a commercial background to help increase funds, or even have a good idea, then speak to a Trust board member. We do have a dedicated section on our website where we list volunteer opportunities for certain roles.

Remember, if you have any issues around Victory Park that you believe Magpies Trust can help with then please speak to a Trust volunteer or board member. We can all be identified by our Trust lanyards or visit Trust HQ near the halfway line to find us.

Enjoy the game!
