PROGRAMME PIECE | Southport FC - 26th August

PROGRAMME PIECE | Southport FC - 26th August

Some things are bigger than football, and today that message will ring out around Victory Park. Both Chorley Football Club and Southport Football Club will be standing together to send our thoughts to the family and friends who have been affected by the incident that took place in Southport four weeks ago today.

You may have already seen how both clubs intend to support the fundraising efforts for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and we want to do our part. One way that we are supporting the fundraising appeal at today’s game is through our 50/50 half time draw. Usually, 50% of the profits are split between the Trust and the Club. However, todays 50% will be going straight into the money raised for Alder Hey. If you are reading this before the game, make sure you buy your ticket from one of our sellers, Trust HQ or 30 minutes before kick-off via our website. Thank you in advance for supporting this fantastic cause.

In Trust news, our first social of the new season is fast approaching. On Thursday 5th September we are inviting Trust members to join us down at Victory Park for a social which includes a Meet The Manager section with a Q&A with Club Chair Jamie Vermiglio, CEO Terry Robinson and first team Manager Andy Preece. The doors are open from 7pm with a brief meeting taking place at 8pm, followed by the Q&A session. This event is exclusive to Trust members – To register please visit our website.

Up next after today we have another long distance away game as we visit Oxford City. If you didn’t make it to Oxford during our first season in the National League North where we played out a 0-0 draw, now is your chance to visit again. Magpies Trust are aiming to put a coach on to every Saturday away fixture throughout the 2024/25 season but it needs your support.

The opening fixture of the season away at Peterborough saw the Trust lose £644.50 with the Scunthorpe match costing £612 (at the time of writing). Over £1,200 will have been swallowed up by the Trust and we are only just leaving the first month of the season. We have let these two trips run because we really want to give the supporters what they have asked for but unfortunately we are going to have to reassess the away travel and that is starting with the Oxford fixture – Should we not have sold enough seats by Thursday 29th August we will have no choice but to cancel the coach.

You can join other likeminded supporters on our OFFICIAL family friendly away travel from just £17 for members/juniors (under 18’s) and £27 for non members – This includes your 12 month subscription making your next away day cheaper. The coach service will get you to the ground between 1 and 2 hours before kick-off, giving you plenty of time to find refreshments and your spot for the match. The Oxford City transport is scheduled to leave Brindle Street at 10:00 and for this fixture we have added a pickup spot of Coppull Library at 10:10.

To book onto the away travel please email info@magpiestrust.org stating seats, names and pickup point – You will then receive a request for a deposit. This will be refunded should the coach be cancelled on Thursday.

Please support the coaches and cheer Preecy and the lads on!

Finally, if you want to get involved with Magpies Trust then we have plenty of roles available ranging from match day to Board roles. Please speak with us at Trust HQ or email info@magpiestrust.org.

Thanks all and enjoy the game!
