MATCH PREVIEW | Warrington Town

Today will be Chorley’s first home fixture against a newly promoted side to the division and it’s against the playoff winners from the Northern Premier League, Warrington Town. After operating at the top end of that level since promotion there in 2016/17, the Yellows finally made the step up by defeating Matlock Town in the semi-final and then Bamber Bridge in the final. Promotion will have gone some way to burying the pain of their super playoff final defeat to Kings Lynn Town in 2018/19 and last year’s playoff final defeat to Scarborough Athletic, but they are not here to make up the numbers. The Yellows have made an excellent start to the season, gathering six points from nine, and the pick of those results was a 4-0 away defeat of Southport on the opening day. The Magpies, desperate to post their first win of the season, will be expecting a tough game today.
