Chorley FC are delighted to have agreed a link with local junior side Brinscall Village JFC. The intention of the deal is to offer promising young players a way into senior football.
Brinscall Village JFC is an ambitious and progressive club, working towards FA Charter Standard. They run a number of sides for both boys and girls, up to under-16s level. A large proportion of youngsters stop playing football between the ages of 16 and 18, and this agreement will give the better players a clear route into semi-professional football at 16 years of age.
The first fruits of the agreement will see a number of promising youngsters invited to train with Chorley FC players at Victory Park. The younger teams will also have a part to play, as they will be appearing at half-time at various Chorley FC first team matches throughout the coming season.
Kevin Kealey of Brinscall Village JFC said: "We want to offer our players the chance of progressing into senior football without having to travel a long way from home, so this link is ideal for us. I'm pleased to be able to help Chorley FC in their bid to regain their status as a leading non-league club."
The two clubs were brought together by the Magpies Trust, a not-for-profit company established to help and support Chorley FC and football in the Chorley area. Chorley Borough Council Sports Development Officer Lee Boyer was instrumental in spotting the potential for a link between the clubs.
